In 2022, crime in unincorporated St. Tammany Parish decreased 7.5% from the previous year, with 983 violent crimes reported in 2022 compared to 1,063 reported in 2021. The clearance rate for those same nationally reported crime categories, murder, manslaughter, sex offenses, robbery and assault, is also up from 89 percent in 2021 to an impressive 91 percent in 2022.  That is compared to the national average of 41 percent.

St. Tammany offers a variety of housing options, including apartment rentals, condominiums, town homes, and single-family homes. 78% of residents own their homes, while 22% rent. Residents live in gated communities, on the waterfront with boat launch access, and in high-end, sprawling estates. All housing opportunities are available across the parish in convenient locations. The average rent in St. Tammany for a 2-bedroom apartment is more than $1,200. The average sales price for a home is almost $260,000.
